“Fresh Stop” is an initiative of Mosaic Church DC that makes available a generous share of locally grown, affordable produce to our faith community and neighborhood on a sliding fee scale depending on income.

Why Fresh Stop and Food Justice?

Fresh Stop is our response to God’s call to take care of one another. In providing vegetables and fruit on a sliding fee scale we are ensuring that fresh, delicious, and locally grown food is made available to anyone regardless of their economic realities. Fresh Stop is our response to God’s call to care for creation. Through partnerships with local farmers, who embrace sustainable agrarian practices, we are supporting and encouraging a gentle use and a kind stewardship of creation.

Fresh Stop is also our response to our culture’s broken relationship to food. Diet-related diseases have risen; cardiovascular disease, hypertension, cancer, and diabetes, as well as childhood obesity rates have tripled in the last 30 years.

Finally, Fresh Stop is our response to Jesus’ prayer that heaven’s will would be done on earth. Through Fresh Stop we are cooperating with heaven’s agenda of healing and abundance on earth.
