Our Passion
The passion of Mosaic is the Kingdom of God; that is God’s revolution of grace, peace, compassion, and love.  This revolution was Jesus’ passion and it is therefore our passion as people who desire to live in the way of Jesus by His Spirit.

The Text: Mark 1.14-20
Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.” As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea—for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you fish for people.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him. As he went a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, who were in their boat mending (preparing) the nets. Immediately he called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, and followed him.

Mosaic Study Guide
A Guide for Personal Reflection and Smaller Group Encounters

Questions for Everyone:  Did you ever have someone try to sell you something you didn’t want?  What was your response?  When you have a Mormon missionary or a Jehovah’s Witness come to your door on Saturday morning, how do you usually respond?

On Sunday we talked about what Jesus meant by “good news.” He declared that the reign of God was near.  A new beginning for the world was coming.

Questions: How is this understanding of good news similar or different than what you grew up hearing at church?  How is “fire insurance” good news different from the good news that Jesus proclaimed?

Jesus proclaimed and demonstrated the reign of God’s presence in the world.  To ask what the kingdom of God is like is simply to ask how Jesus lived in this world.

Questions: Reflection on the life and teaching of Jesus, what exactly might the reign of God look like in our world?  How do we get involve in God’s agenda for God’s world?

On Sunday we discussed a couple of way of thinking about the kingdom of God.  We talked about the healing of God’s world.  We also discussed how the reign of God is like a revolution.

Questions: Which word, healing or revolution, do you resonate with the most?  Why?  Do you see yourself as a person involved in a revolution?  How are you involved in the healing of our world?
