Teaching Series @ MosaicPortraits of Christmas 29 November: “Zechariah and Elizabeth” 27 December: “Simeon and Anna” As the Christmas drama unfolds in the biblical narrative various persons and a certain angel help us understand the mystery of the incarnation. We will listen to the Christmas story through their unique perspectives. John Wesley’s Covenant Service 3 January: “New Year’s Covenant” Let’s be honest most people make and then quickly break New Year’s resolutions. On the first Sunday of 2010 our Mosaic community will consider covenant making and keeping as a way of life. 8 January: Drew Robinson will be our teacher on this Sunday. The Body 17 January: “The Incarnation Changes Everything” Many people will resolve to lose weight in 2010. We live in a body obsessed culture. On this Sunday we will consider the relationship between a healthy body and a healthy Christian spirituality.
Christians Behaving Badly 24 January: “Christians are Intolerant” 14 February: “Christians are Too Political” TBD: “Christians Hate Homosexuals” 21 February: “NA” “Spiritual Formation 101” Begins at 9:15 pdf De-churched people have had some really bad encounters with Christians behaving badly. In this new teaching series our Mosaic community will listen to what de-churched people have to say about Christians with a humble heart and a teachable spirit.
The Lenten Way 21 February: Fasting—The Way of Blessed Subtraction 28 February: Meditation and Prayer—The Way of the Heart 7 March: Solitude—The Way of Silence 14 March: Submission—The Way of Freedom through Surrender 21 March: Confession and Guidance—The Way of Spiritual Solidarity Believing in Jesus is one thing, following Him is another thing. With the guidance of trusted friends and teachers we will seek to learn the Way of Jesus together through the means of grace.
Palm Sunday 28 March: Jesus is On a Donkey? I have always been amused at the scene of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. What does it mean for us that our Teacher and Lord chooses the way of weakness to defeat evil?
Easter Sunday 4 April: “He is Risen! . . . so What?” Paul says that because of the resurrection our labor is not in vain. Ok, so what does resurrection have to do with us today? We’ll talk about it.
